Scavenger Hunt (Krista & Chuan)

So Dr. K sent us on a scavenger hunt around Magdeburg on Saturday June 2nd. We had three clues:
1) This University, known as the "Fachhochschule" or "Hochschule" is where we'll be spending time. Hint: It's across the Elbe River!

2) Find "Kiek in de Köcken" and photograph it.

3) Take a picture of a restaurant on Hasselbachplatz.

So we went out to find the University, the answer to the first clue. But we ran into a crowd of people who were in town for a big soccer game. We were trying to cross the river but people were all walking towards us and we could not get across, so we had to turn back. It was also beginning to rain. Our scavenger hunt was off to a rough start!

Next we found Dr. K who sent us in the other direction to Hasselbachplatz. We found a resteraunt and photographed it, the Istanbul Grill.

Kiek in de Köchen was not as easy to find. We had to ask several people where to go, though we had a challenge with the language. Though Krista understands some German, she is not able to speak it as well! Kiek in de Köchen is a small tower along the Elbe River, but we did not know that until we ran into some nice people riding bikes who pointed us in the general direction. They told us it was yellow but not that it was two different towers. Also it was not marked anywhere on the tower.
We took a picture of the yellow tower, but since we weren't sure that it was the correct place, we co ntinued riding and found a second tower and photographed it as well. Two women there told us that our first location was correct after all! We found that many of the women seemed nicer and easier to talk to than the men we talked to. Our hunt was now complete. YAY!

We also ran into a LARGE playground on the way and Krista really wanted to stop and play! It was very tall and had a small trampoline. Maybe we'll get a chance to go back and play later when we have free time in our thirteen days here. :)
